• Short Summary

A look at various unusual ways children use to get to school around the country.

  • Description

A story about the various ways children use to get to school. It starts with Scots Guardsman Mulleney playing bagpipes as primary school children follow him to Milton Barracks. The narrator explains their school was destroyed by fire and they have been temporarily rehoused in the barracks, we see some soldiers watching them come in.

We move to Scotland where we see the children arriving on skis as the snow is so heavy it is the only way to get there, the children leave their skis at the gate and go in.

Next we see a revolutionary modern school where the children are arriving on motorcycles and trucks, they ride through the woods to the school.

Finally children at Blean Primary School in Canterbury get taken home in a Rolls Royce, the education authority has found this is the cheapest way to get the children home to outlying areas. We see the children come out of school and pile into the car, held open by driver Arthur Skams. It drives off down the road and they get out when they have reached their destination and wave goodbye to him.
