  • Short Summary

Nice footage of a parade of women workers on floats and on foot, collecting for charity.

  • Description

Glasgow's Pageant of Women War Workers - in aid of Lord Provost's Fund for Limbless Heroes.

Women war workers marching along street. Float goes by with a model aeroplane on it, and two women sitting beside it. Another for Mossend National Projectile Factory. Women in overalls carrying flags march behind it.

Cars and wagons coming up the street; decorated or pulling floats etc. Flags from British countries; and other Allied nations. Women riding in the cars; some in costume. One woman of magnificent bearing rides along on a horse (actually looks like a man in drag! SL).

The Women's Land Army has a big haystack pulled by work horses. Devlin's Trawlers' float says 'Eat More Fish; Cultivate the Brain; and Finish the War'. Red Cross nurses stand on wagons with sign 'Help The Boys By Subscribing To The Limbless Hospital' and they hold out cups for donations.

A man dressed as Charlie Chaplin sits backwards on a horse or donkey and does some funny business as he rides along, tipping his hat and waving to the crowd - SL.
