Garda athletes throw themselves into training with strength and vigor.
Item title reads: "Garda Athletes in Training for the Garda Sports Week commencing June 22nd ."
M/S of a group playing hockey or shinty. It looks quite dangerous. A team dig their heels in hard for a tug of war. They take the strain, and bend their knees in unison. A sergeant instructs them. They then take the strain from behind, again bending together. Others tackle the hurdles in a race, and some do sprint starts. Individuals show high jump skills, with a scissor jumps, and a tuck jump. One man, (he looks like Hitler), tries the discus! To finish, the men, in twos, practice side bends. One man places a foot on the knee of his kneeling partner and leans right over, arm stretched out.
Note: This all looks hilarious. The tug of war is great for rhythm. The side bends could be exercises for advanced window cleaning, or perhaps men practicing to be aeroplanes.
