Various shots, huge crowds of Parisians queuing and entering church to pay homage to Madame René Coty, wife of the President of the Republic and First Lady of France. Interior church: people paying homage at the catafalque. (3 shots). High shots, the bier surrounded by tall candles. Mourners. Various shots, of the funeral ceremony.

    Various high shots of the mourners leaving and the coffin being borne from church proceeding along road to Havre (Madame Coty's home town) for burial, children throw flowers on coffin along the route.

    Large crowds wait to see the hearse in Havre. People queue in Havre cemetery where the coffin was placed in a temporary grave. Various shots of townspeople crossing themselves in front of the coffin. Wreaths.

    Madame Coty's Christian name was Germaine.

    She died on 12 November 1955, with the funeral taking place on 14 November 1955.

    "The Madeleine Church" is, strictly speaking, L'eglise de la Madeleine.
