    French soldiers on the Western Front put on an amateur theatrical performance for their friends.

    Shot of audience of French soldiers standing in rows, applauding and laughing! LS 2 soldiers on stage in front of painted curtain, a soldiers in drag joins them & they act out a scene. Pan on spectators again. Shot from behind audience looking toward the little stage, battered bombed church in background. While the show goes on two bombs land in churchyard in background.

    The actor in drag seems to be singing a song, the audience cheers, nobody pays attention to the bombs. Closer shot of cast standing in row on stage, as curtain lowers the orchestra in foreground starts to play and the conductor waves baton . The curtain is rolled up again to reveal the cast striking a pose.
