Meeting of French National Assembly at Palace of Versailles.
Full title reads: "French National Assembly. Only called in times of National emergency - meets in historic Palace of Versailles".
L/S of Palace of Versailles. M/S of group of high ranking police / army officers walking through Palace gates. M/S of official looking men coming out of Palace doorway.
Top shot of soldiers leading horses through cobbled square. Various shots of soldiers and horses assembled in square in front of Palace. Various L/Ss of the Palace, groups of men stand outside it. C/U of French president, Aristide Briand, and other men standing in front of glass door, a shady looking man in dark glasses stands behind them.
Cuts / out takes start at 01:23:01. Great C/U of Briand trying his hand at operating a movie camera, a man in a straw boater shows him what to do - very light hearted scene not used in edited story. Some more shots of groups of men standing outside palace, some sit on chairs or on grass - they seem very relaxed considering there is a national emergency! Otherwise, shots similar to those in edited bit of story.
Note: unclear what national emergency was - could be to do with fall of French franc on foreign exchanges and formation of coalition government under Raymond Poincare. See FIGHTING FOR THE FRANC in G 1315 for more details.
