"Reporter talks to camera" - the reporter is Shaw Taylor.

"CU tax certificate in car window." - the tax disc is dated December 1971, enabling the clip's date range to be slightly reduced.

"car pulls up and reporter gets in." - the car is a Peugeot 204.

Other cars seen include, at 00:56, a Citroen Ami, and at 01:02 a Citroen 2CV.

At 00:54 the price of a litre of petrol is 1,119 (the French use a comma rather than a full-stop, read 1.119 Francs a litre). The usual price was 1,16 in 1971 but shot up to 1,62 in 1972 as the petrol crisis affected the world.

To return to the tax disc: at 00:35 a tax disc has a start date of 1 December 1971 and an end date of 30 (?) November 1972, the conclusion being that the film was shot anytime between December 1971 and the summer of 1972, probably early 1972.

Looks like the report is showing cars not roadworthy according to British standards and unclear directions on squares with concomitant mayhem (according to British standards). All-in-all a Daily Telegraph kind of report!

Sorry! At 00:54, the petrol price at the pump was 1,190 not 1,119.
