In the 'French Mayors in Ramsgate 1946' film, the date of the beauty contest was definitely Thursday, 20 June, 1946. I don't know for sure whether the other parts of the film were on the same day, but it is highly likely. This was Ramsgate's first post-war 'Summer Fayre'. The winner of the beauty contest was Jean Ethel Tungatt, who became my mother. I can supply some stills. Message posted by Martin George in Australia . I should be delighted to hear from anyone else with further images or recollections of this event.
