    St Nazaire, France.

    Various shots of men doing last minute work on the new French liner ship 'Pasteur' - named after Louis Pasteur. Madame Pasteur-Radeaux (sp?), a descendent of Pasteur, smashes a bottle against the side of the ship to launch it and the huge vessel moves slowly down the slope and into the water. Several small boats gather around her on the water as huge crowds look on.

    Note: according to paperwork this story also appeared in the 38/16 LNER Railway Programme.

    The date of the launching seen here was 15 February 1938.

    "Madame Pasteur-Radeaux (sp?)" should read Madame Pasteur Vallery-Rodot, (she was the wife of the grandson of Louis Pasteur).
