Ramsay MacDonald makes a speech to open homes for aged miners.
Full Title reads: "Murton, Northumberland. 'For the evening of their days!' Mr Ramsay MacDonald opens block of cosy homes for aged miners."
People gathered on platform. They are seated whilst one man address the crowd gathered in front of the stage. They are outside and on the wall of the building behind them is a poster saying 'Welcome to The Right Honourable J. Ramsay MacDonald'. The speaker hands over something to Ramsay MacDonald. The crowd and dignitaries applaud. MacDonald and the speaker walk off the platform.
MacDonald and the speaker walk through the crowd to the door of the building. The building is hung with bunting. MacDonald unlocks the door of the building and looks in.
MacDonald and speaker come out of the building. They walk back to the stage. The crowd applaud.
Mr MacDonald makes a speech (SOF) "My friends it has been a great honour to be allowed to do what I have done today. I'll carry this key away with me as a memory of you all. As a memory of those very tasteful houses that have been built to receive some of you in your old age." (Ramsay MacDonald's Scottish accent is clearly audible.)
Halfway through the speech the visuals cut to view of the small row of attractive bungalows.
MacDonald walks off the stage as a man rouses the crowd into even louder cheers.
