Britain's mass army of volunteers who responded to appeals by King George V.
'Follow the drum' - how the country is responding to the King's appeal.
'Follow the Drum' is Pathe's title for this piece; re Britain's mass army of volunteers who responded to appeals by King George V; Lord Kitchener; etc. Shot of group of Highlanders in kilts and bagpipes marching down street. Behind them come masses of men in civilian dress; off to join up. A young Boy Scout walks to the side of the men. Some of the men tip their hats to the camera as they pass; a huge crowd of them. (This could also be used to represent men going to work or whatever - just a big crowd moving in one direction; and all men.) In the rear a man rides on a small motorcycle with sidecar.
World War One. Military; recruitment.
