The Finnish National Orchestra play Elgar's Cockaigne Overture, plus London street scenes.
Titles read: "Now for a topical peep at the celebrated Finnish National Orchestra - Conductor Georg Schneevoight - Filmed in the Queen's Hall, on its recent visit to London. The Orchestra is playing.... THE COCKAIGNE OVERTURE (ELGAR) - In this well-known overture, SIR EDWARD ELGAR has portrayed in music the life of the great Metropolis, with all its varied shades and emotions."
The Queen's Hall, London.
Various shots of the Finnish National Orchestra conducted by Georg Schneevoight playing the stirring Cockaigne Overture. Probably a rehearsal although could be actual performance (musicians are all in white tie and tails).
Nice shots are intercut showing street scenes and sights of London - River Thames with St Paul's Cathedral in background, people walking across a bridge, piling into a market square with barrows, wandering along the river bank, St James's Palace and surrounding area, Tower of London, St Paul's, Houses of Parliament, Westminster, Cenotaph and so on.
Applause is heard at the end of the piece. Schneevoight takes a bow.
