  • Description

Full titles read: "Festival of "Taipsuam" - filmed for first time. Native worshippers endure self torture to honour their deity."

    Singapore.

M/S shows a parade of people walking through a street; one man carries a kind of cage on his shoulders that seems to have spiked quills on the inside, going through his skin - yuck! The cage looks very heavy and uncomfortable and he holds his hands over his groin. M/S of three men beating on drums that hang over their shoulders.

M/Ss of an ornate float being pulled by an ox; the centre of it looks like a shrine. More footage of the parade of people. M/S of the man in the spiked cage; it looks like the quills are being stuck into his skin by two other men.
