• Short Summary

A traditional Italian ceremony where people race about a town, carrying enormous candles.

  • Description

    Italy.

In a small Italian town in the central mountains (sounds like Trubio, Trupio or Drupio?) we see the traditional Festival of Candles, in honour of St Obaldo Baldisini (sp?), patron saint of the town. Huge crowds of people manage to get three enormous candles into a vertical position and run around the market square with them, then along the streets of the town. Those not involved in the actual carrying run alongside. Commentator, with tongue firmly in cheek, talks of the stately and dignified procession moving slowly through the town.

Soundtrack cuts out a few seconds before the end of the film.
