Women War Workers' Fete; somewhere in England.

  • Description

Festival for women war workers. Location of events unknown.

World War One; home front; festivals. Women War Workers' Fete; somewhere in England. Quite a mixture of people -- good life in wartime stuff. Outdoor springtime festival with some people walking about on a lane; talking with each other; others sitting on the grass on the side. Group of 24 women in uniform march down the road. CU well-dressed people walking past -- elderly man and several women; the ladies have large brimmed hats for the sun; and one woman wears a Red Cross armband; a flower border and a greenhouse in BG.

More of people walking about in the lane through the park: some women in uniform; but also many wearing more feminine dresses for this occasion. A few children. Old lady in long dress and plumed hat walks with a younger woman. Several men wearing military hospital clothes. Strange game; in which people are tossing balls into an area enclosed in wire fencing with shovels stuck into the ground; standing up; with heads made of stuffed bags on top of the handles.
