• Short Summary

Arms factory girl entertains workmates by singing 'The Girl Who Works The Thingummybob'.

  • Description

Titles read: "FACTORY WORKERS SINGSONG - Girls who work the thingummybob" (Dublin issue).

    New South Wales, Australia.

General view of an enormous crowd of workers sitting and standing outside a factory. One girl comes to the front of the crowd and to the accompaniment of a brass band she sings the song 'The Girl Who Works The Thingummybob' - she's pretty good (she could be called 'Thelma' - one of her work mates calls it out as she stands at the microphone). At the end all her work mates cheer.

M/S of a factory whistle blowing. We then see good shots of woman workers going back inside the factory and montage of shots showing them at their machines. We hear the woman singing again over this sequence.

    Alternative spelling - thingamabob.

Note: duplicate story but with commentary at start is found in 42/105 - see separate record.
