At appr 00:28 to 00:31 you can see Austria´s Eva Pawlik watching the Championships from the stand. As athlets from Germany and Austria were barred from the international Championships in 1947, Pawlik was not allowed to participate though she would have had the chance to win a medal. In 1948, Austrians were finally admitted. Pawlik was the 1948 runner-up at the Europeans despite the fact she was Europe´s best skater. Nevertheless, she was awarded only the silver medal because the European title was awarded to a non-European skater (Barbara Ann Scott from Canada). Pawlik who had also earned the Olympic and World Silver Medals in 1948 finally became the 1949 European Champion, beating the same year´s World Champion Alena Vrzá?ová from Czechoslovakia.
