It's amazing that such suffering had to occur for something that should never have been an issue in the first place. Women in South Australia had the right to vote in 1894. That included indigenous women. Sadly, while white women were given the right to vote in the Australian federation in 1901, following the example of South Australia, indigenous women were excluded.
