  • Short Summary

Oxford University students take part in 'Eights' Week', held for the first time since the War.

  • Description

    Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Intertitle: "'EIGHTS' WEEK' resumed after 6 years - to the joy of the Undergraduate, his friends and relations".

For the first time since the First World War, the rowing week at Oxford University takes place.

Panning shot across the River Thames. In the foreground, onlookers are leaning over the veranda of a large boat house to get a view of the rowing race. Three rowing eights are competing, we see them in the distance coming towards the camera. M/S of the rowing eights from the other bank of the river, pan to a crowd of male students running along the tow path beside the race.

Note: this story is very similar in content to - MERRY MOP FIGHT ROWING - in Pathe Gazette G 670 which shows the opening of the rowing week at Cambridge University in the same year.
