  • Short Summary

Duke of Connaught and Princess Henry at military ceremony.

  • Description

Duke of Connaught and Princess Henry of Battenberg - 11 November 1916.

    Location of events unknown.

M/S of a woman in fur coat and large hat - probably Princess Henry of Battenberg - walking towards camera, accompanied by a man in military uniform and a man in civvies. Seems to be on a parade ground.

Before a large building a clergyman conducts a service at an altar draped with the Union Jack flag. Another flag is carried past camera. Crowd looks on.

Several shots of a parade in city streets watched by large crowds. Ornate coach comes along street , drawn by team of horses. Followed by gun carriages (?) drawn by horses. Soldiers on horseback.

In a factory we see a one-armed man at work on machinery. Other men in white coats at work - seem to be making boxes out of wood or cardboard.

Troops on parade ground. Presenting Colour (flag). Woman seen in first shot (Princess Henry?) and man in military uniform watch ceremony with clergyman seen before. The man in uniform (Duke of Connaught?) salutes. They then shake hands with people and leave.

Not sure what is going on here - any details gratefully received - SL.
