The popular Duchess of York visits a girl's school.
Item title reads: " Duchess Of York. At Jubilee celebrations of famous St. Leonard's School for girls."
M/S as the Duchess walks along, towards camera, with the headmistress. Lines of girls in white shirts, dark skirts, stockings and hats, stand nearby. One girl gives her a basket of something that looks like lavender bags. She looks and turns to say thank you to the girls. Next she is seen on the steps outside a building, wearing a fur trimmed coat and cloche hat. She takes a key to open a new building, poses and goes in - looking relaxed. M/S of a massed crowd, flag waving in the street. A car pulls forward and away from camera, followed by town children, boys in caps, who run after the car along with a photographer. The occupants of the car cannot be seen but a woman to the right in the crowd, touches her lip as if enthralled to see her as she passed by.
Note: lovely sequence of the Queen mother, as Duchess of York, a picture of natural elegance, on a royal duty on her own.
