    Young men around 17 sign up to be emergency messengers, they are fitted for helmets and gas masks. They cycle away to danger areas. Wardens fling themselves on the ground as a bomb explodes, the telephone is dead so emergency messengers have to be sent out to control centre. M/S of girls at the centre, the messengers ride through and deliver the details. Messengers ride and wardens run through the streets. M/S as two female ambulance drivers jump into their ambulance. The rescue squads drive off in a special bus. Various shots of the civil defence workers.
