This story relates to Melinda Maclean, the wife of the famous British diplomat Donald Maclean, who transpired to be a spy for the Soviet Union.

Mrs Maclean did eventually turn up, with her children. She later joined her husband in Moscow in around 1957.

She died in New York in 2010.
