Small boy Dave and his dog Dusty sample some whelks at a seaside stall - item from NP 201.
This is the Dave and Dusty story that is missing from NP 201.
Small boy Dave and his shaggy dog Dusty walk along a seaside front - looks like Brighton. They stop at a seafood stall. M/S of a sign reading 'Whelks & Cockles 6d A Plate'; pan across to show several plates of the same on the front of the stall.
Dave hands over sixpence to the woman stall holder. He puts some sauce or vinegar on a plate of whelks and starts to eat them. He chews hard and doesn't seem too sure whether he likes them. Dusty sits up begging for some food so Dave drops one on the ground for him to try. Dave finishes them off, then looks down at Dusty - he has conked out on the floor!
Dave scoops the dog up and runs off with him along the seafront.
