Foam mattress for Jersey herd at modern dairy farm. Interior. A woman farmer is turning the cattle bedding over before the cows come in. The old way of bedding down cattle: C/U hay being spread around a pedigree Hereford cow in small enclosure. A calf runs into the enclosure to suckle from its mother. The modern way of bedding down cattle: M/S cow in the cow shed stepping onto foam mattress (a replacement for the straw). M/S other cows on mattress. C/U milking appliance being fixed to cows udder. Various shots cows asleep on the mattresses. According to narrator foam mattresses need changing less than hay - they are therefore cheaper and take up less of farmer's time.
