• Short Summary

Hollywood cobbler who lives on Thames shows her latest shoe designs - great embroidery.

  • Description

    Chiswick Eyot, London.

Panoramic L/S of the river Themes - its banks, boats, trees and buildings in the background. M/S of several moored boats. Cut to a L/S of a woman sitting on the deck of a white boat, painting. C/U shot of the woman's shoe covered in pearls and embroidery - very pretty.

Ginny Brown, self-made shoe maker (cobbler) from California (USA, United States of America) came to London with her husband, an actor and producer Phil Brown. They bought the boat 'Mayflower' and turned it into a floating home.

Mrs. Brown became famous for her shoe designs when Hollywood stars like Zsa Zsa Gabor, Vivien Leigh, Rita Hayworth and many others started ordering shoes from her. She is self-taught shoe designer but her first love is painting.

Several shots of Mrs. Brown working on different shoes. For one shoe, she is engraving a golden leaf onto the leather. For another, she glues the sole on. "Some shoes take her five hours to make, some as many days..." - says the voiceover.

C/U shots of several models of Mrs. Brown's footwear designs. The first is a purple, discreetly embroidered, eastern style shoe. The second is a sandal inspired by Roman laced footwear. It has pink sides covered in shiny stones, and white laces tying the sandal to the foot. The third is beautifully embroidered black shoe very low cut on the front. Follows a very bold design - a sole with the strapping at the back and a stud at the front. The last is a light brown ankle boot laced from the toes upwards with lovely golden pearl embroidery. None of Mrs. Brown's designs have high heels but none lack elegance.
