Swans have oil cleaned from their feathers at the PDSA Clinic in Ilford.
Various shots show swans with oil-stained feathers being cleaned at the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals. They are washed in a soapy bath, rinsed in clean water then given a bran bath to dry out the feathers. A girl goes into the swan coup to pour some food in their trough.
Note: cameraman's notes on file say the swans were covered in oil following an oil barge sinking at Vauxhall in December 1956. For search purposes: PDSA, P.D.S.A.
