Bostock's Three Ring Circus is featured - various acts including juggling, high wire, clowns etc.
L/S of a circus ring. According to paper records this is "Bostock's Three Ring Circus." Performing horses and ponies run around a small ring. Spectators can be seen in the foreground and behind the ring on a high balcony is a large orchestra. "Smiling faces, watching with eager eyes the great rings and Bostock's well-trained horses." C/U of a packed audience. M/S of the performing horses. Various shots of them being put through their paces, all from the audience. A motley crew parades for the audience - large masks are worn and strange outfits. There is a white faced clown on stilts.
The Matsumoto Egawa troupe perform a balancing act. One of the troupe lies on his back and uses his arms and legs to spin a large patterned pole. L/S of the ring as members of the troupe do balancing tricks and contortions. Boxes and a barrel are balanced on a man's feet then a woman climbs on top of the barrel. Daring wire walkers are up next on the tightrope. A young Chinese boy walks on the wire holding a parasol. He then slides down the wire. Shot of the packed audience waving pieces of paper in the air in approval. Jean Florian the juggler goes through his paces. He does all sorts of juggling and balancing. Next we see the lion tamer and his beasts. There are also Polar Bears in the ring, behind bars of course. Zebras run around the ring. A clown does a turn with two men in a Giraffe outfit (rather like a pantomime horse.) Other clowns do a silly dance then run into the audience. Shots of them messing about in amongst the crowd.
