    Various locations around Russia and Eastern Europe (Soviet Union, USSR).

    Various shots of Soviet workers using high pressure water hoses to clear rubble and debris in order to build road and railway lines. The excavated material is directed into gigantic troughs where the debris is sieved so it can be reused to make concrete. Panning shot of troughs going over railway line, a train with wagons full of debris moves underneath trough.

    Near Murmansk, in Northern Russia. L/S of town at foot of mountains. M/S of a miner drilling into rock face - he is mining for mineral, apatite. C/U of miner. C/U of drill. Various shots of wagon on rails moving down mine tunnel. The side of the wagon opens to lots of apatite tips out to be crushes. M/S of train pulling wagons full of mineral coming out of tunnel.

    M/S of lots of Russian Navy cadets standing on deck of ship in skimpy swimming trunks. Various shots of cadets swimming in chilly Baltic Sea. A crowd of people watch the hardy young men swim. As one swimmer reaches the edge of the ship his colleagues on deck bend down to shake his hand - the race winner? C/U of group of Soviet adults and children smiling and clapping. M/S of swimmers coming out of water and passing applauding crowd.

    A fur farm near Prague, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). Various shots of man feeding titbits to martens (furry mammals). The martens play about in their cage - unaware of what awaits them!
