    Around the area of the River Danube we see men cutting down reeds that grow beside the river and have been trapped in the ice of the frozen waters. The reeds are tied into bundles and carried off on sleighs pulled by horses to be made into mats and used for thatching.

    Various shots of electric eels in a laboratory tank in the United States of America. A scientist takes one of the eels out and attaches a negative and positive belt to each end of it. The electric current generated by each wriggle of the eel is measured on a machine. Commentator says the 500 volts from the creature could light an electric bulb or run a motor.
