  • Short Summary

    Signing of cinema commission.

  • Description

Cinema commission - Bishop of Birmingham, Miss Adelaide Cox, Sir Robert Baden Powell.

People signing a paper. Shot of 3 old men sitting at a table; a woman and 2 other men come up and sign a paper. Looks like a petition; like it might be some political thing. But really it's the Cinema Commission: The Bishop of Birmingham; Miss Adelaide Cox; Sir Robert Baden-Powell and Sir John Kirk. Signature; autograph; committee; motion pictures.

Sir John Kirk (the final gentleman to sign) was my great, great grandfather. I'm currently writing a new biography of him so was absolutely thrilled to stumble upon this piece of "living history"; and I check your site quite regularly for any more surprise finds. He had his fingers in a lot of pies.

I have also come across some titles on IMDB that might - I stress might - also contain footage of him as they deal directly with his work. If it is all right to ask, would happen to know if you have access, or can provide any advice on following the following titles?

Children of the Ragged School Union
The Ragged School Union Children's Fete
    Children's Fresh Air Fund
    Daily Express Fresh Air Fund
    Children of the Slums

They are listed as documentaries, but I'm sure they are simply short newsreel clips.

Thanking you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.
