Chinese writing is translated - with sexist results!
Introductory intertitle reads: "Ever tried to figure out just what is the meaning of those queer characters? For instance, watch how John Chinaman builds up a word..."
C/U of a hand writing Chinese characters on a piece of paper. English words magically appear translating the Chinese. Words are sky, light, one, mouth, field. Intertitle reads: "Clear sky, light, one mouth to feed and a big field to feed it.. that's the Chinese idea of Prosperity!" Here's another..."
Following Chinese inscriptions are drawn then translated: ear, hand, woman, marriage. This results in the proverb: "Whisper in her ear... give a hand to the woman... the result, marriage!" The last set are: cover, woman and peace. "Chinese logic again...place a cover on a woman...result...PEACE!" Nice sexism!
