    Sino-Japanese War - the Japanese have occupied Shanghai and are en route to capital, Nanking.

    Aerial shots of fields and a castle / fortress, probably in Shanghai. Various shots of Japanese army marching into Soochow. Various shots of soldiers resting a roadside and in bombed out buildings, some sit beside camp fires. Two men holding Japanese flags walk past group of soldiers. M/S of soldiers praying at makeshift shrine.

    M/S of soldiers walking into bombed out railway station. Sign on side of building reads: 'Kao Pei Tien'. Various shots of soldiers with rifles inspecting wreck of steam train and carriages. The railway tracks are buckled and twisted.

    Note alternative spellings of Nanking: Nanjing, Chian-ning, Nan-ching, Kiang-ning. Also Soochow = Suzhou.
