C/Us of an abstract drawing; some areas are painted in with a water-colour wash; at the top of the page is written 'Topsy - 3-1-61'. M/S of Dr George Cooper, holding a palette and painting a country scene at an easel in his home in Hertford.

Dr Cooper looks down and we see a beautiful black cat 'drawing' with a crayon on a piece of paper pinned to a drawing board! The crayon is dangled from the ceiling by a long piece of string. We are told the cat is called Topsy, and has drawn six drawings to date. She looks up at Dr Cooper; she is gorgeous!

Dr Cooper kneels down, picks up the crayon and holds it before Topsy's nose. He places it back on the paper: and Topsy pats it and takes it in her mouth to 'draw' on the paper. Commentator tells us "...Topsy hasn't yet mastered the use of paints, so she merely sketches and Dr Cooper adds a dash of colour". Dr Cooper puts some paint brushes before Topsy and she sniffs them.

M/S and C/U of Topsy 'drawing', although she seems rather more interested in the knotted string around the pencil. Dr Cooper looks down from his painting at her now and then. Commentator says "Yet Topsy is obviously not in it for the money; on the other hand (as you can see) she's not exactly dedicated either", as Topsy stops playing with the pencil, looks off camera and runs off, leaving us with a C/U of the drawing on the floor.

Hooray! At last, a Colour Pic about a cat! This cataloguer feels there aren't enough cats in the Colour Pics!

Note: On file is a news article about Topsy drawing a picture of a man on a horse which was included in an exhibition of paintings by Dr Cooper. A photo above the article shows Topsy next to the drawing - it does look like a man on a horse!
