• Short Summary

Images of the officially declared "prettiest village in England" - Castle Combe. Very poetic.

  • Description

    Castle Combe, Wiltshire

Great slow top to bottom tilting M/S of Castle Combe. A figure of a man appears at the door, he walks out of the Castle. Cut to L/S of the village of Castle Combe - roof tops, Abbey roof, little bridge. A man crossing the bridge.

The village of Castle Combe is officially declared the prettiest village in England by the British Travel Association. The village is very old and very beautiful. Voiceover informs - "it was sitting here before the Romans came".

C/U shot of sign "The Castle Inn" attached to a great stone wall. C/U shot of another sign "Antiques". Pan down to a M/S of couple looking at antique shop window. Succession of L/S of the village streets, paths and houses. People walking around admiring the beauty of the scenery.

The old well, line of great old houses, tiny streets, the duck pond - there is an air of calmness and tranquility in the old soothing village landscape.

"Everyone comes to the duck pond for the prettiest view of the prettiest village - where life is sweetly slow" - voiceover concludes.

Note: Red filters used to highlight the 'oldness' and 'fairy-tale-look' of the village - very successful.
