Strange invention is demonstrated - possibly the forerunner of the in-car stereo!
No title. Unedited material.
M/S of two men in a car. One sits in the driver's seat, the other sits in the back wearing headphones. He is operating a large contraption in the back of the car - presumably an early "car radio." It has a very large horn balanced on the top and lots of controls to twiddle. The man in the back smokes a cigarette as he works. L/S of the car and occupants. They are stationary. The driver turns around and moves the recording (or transmitting) device.
Jump cut. Now the driver appears to be wearing the headphones. Various shots of the two men and their interesting invention. Dials are adjusted. They drive off into the distance. We then see them coming towards the camera a couple of times. We then see other traffic passing the camera.
Note: it is not at all clear what this device is. Could be something that broadcasts speech or music while the car is travelling along? Rather fabulous footage!
Julian notes that G968"Another Wireless Wonder" contains different scenes but is same story. These are possibly unused shots from that film. See also new dupe in tin 694 which may be longer than the nitrate copy.
