    At the Savoy Hotel we see various shots of the annual Variety Club Luncheon where members and sporting personalities have gathered to see the Butlin Water Speed Record Challenge Trophy presented to Donald Campbell. C/U of the trophy. C/U of Campbell.

    Managing Director of Associated British Picture Corporation and Britain's Variety Club founder Mr CJ Latta sits beside swimming ace Judy Grinham. Tennis star Christine Truman. Golf star Dai Reese. Heavyweight boxer Henry Cooper wears dark glasses (just seen behind them are his bruised and stitched eyes - youch). 14-year-old diving champion Brian Phelps and racing driver Mike Hawthorn are also seen. Brief shot of actor / film star James Stewart.

    Billy Butlin, this year's President of the Variety Club, presents the trophy to Campbell who then makes a speech about how it has been a wonderful year for Britain politically, economically, industrially and for British sport. He talks of the achievement of new records furthering human knowledge.
