    My Nan ‘Jolly Alice’ appears at the end of this clip. Her dress was purple. She died a year after this film and before I was born. My dad was only 15 when she died but he was always talking about her and I knew a bit about her and searched for a clip my dad had seen at the cinema with his sister. When I found this clip, it was the first time I had seen images of her and found it quite emotional. She had a Hugh stick of Blackpool rock made for Tommy Handley because he’d mentioned her during one of his shows and she got extra work because of it.
