• Short Summary

Buses from the last 100 years are seen at Chiswick.

  • Description

    Chiswick, London.

Various shots of buses from the last 100 years belonging to the Transport Board as we see people in Victorian costume getting on the vehicles in a park. Some ladies have a little trouble getting on the Shillibeer bus of 1829 and the knifeboard of 1850 in their hooped skirts; one woman gets stuck in a doorway until a man gives her a shove.

The horse-drawn buses make their way through the park followed by motor buses, including Ole / Old Bill, the bus that went to France in the First World War. Brief shot of a bus conductress / clippie standing inside a bus. M/S of a woman in Victorian dress, holding up her crinoline dress as she runs for a bus. (Small section of visuals is currently missing from the end of this item.)
