This is the wedding of my father - Dudley Neville Wijeyaratne - to my mother - Anoma Maheswari Malalasekera - on 17 Sept 1959 in Moscow. As correctly stated, it took place at the Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Embassy Moscow as my grandfather (Dr G.P. Malalasekera) was Ambassador to Russia at that time.
Some time ago, my mother wrote an account of the preparations leading up to the wedding, ie how the Russian government organised to fly in Buddhist monks from Mongolia to offer blessings to the bride and groom; how the wedding platform was constructed by participants of the Bolshoi Ballet; how fresh flowers were flown to Moscow on KLM's inaugural flight, etc. It makes very interesting reading!
The wedding was filmed as it was the first Buddhist wedding in Russia, so it created alot of publicity. This film was deemed 'lost' for many years, but it's great our family can now view it. Is it possible to obtain a copy?
Thank you
