Motor car and motorbike racing at Brooklands.

  • Description

Soundtrack is missing for this item.

    Brooklands, Surrey.

Various shots of racing cars at Brooklands. Crowds of people watch from around the course. We then see motorbikes zooming around the track in another race. A rather shy man on a motorcycle poses for the camera - probably Eric Fernihough who set a new speed record at this event - over 143 miles an hour.

The car race is the First March Road Handicap on the Campbell Circuit at Brooklands on 12th March 1938.

Car No.1 (at 00:23) is Price Bira's ERA (he finished second). The winner was K. Gammons in a Riley.
