    Opens w/ attempt at filming from a plane taking off at night; but almost totally dark; only lines of lights are visible. Next; various shots of early air traffic controller at work; sitting at a table; moving little markers around on a map & talking on old-fashioned telephone.

    Shot of map showing flights from London to locations on the continent; comparisons of times for air travel vs. rail & sea appear on screen. Aeroplanes in a row on ground. CU some of airport light controls. ATC looking at light board (?); he flips switch on box that says Switch ECU hand turning dial. Workers pull cargo on carts to aeroplanes. ECU hand & dial. CU pilot in open cockpit. CU map of area of England; w/ needle moving over it.

    Flare-shooter set up outside at night. Fireworks; or sparks; falling from sky. The ATC on balcony of his tower. Airport worker seems to shoot off a flare. Lights flashing off & on. Then shot from tower; workers running on.
