The pilot's full name is John "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, a former WWII fighter ace.

The plane being tested is the de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen prototype. The craft is powered by two Rolls-Royce "Avon" engines.

John Cunningham was a VERY busy pilot - he's in about another 20 Pathe clips flying various planes!
