Interesting film about a solarium - lots of fun including dancing a Charleston and eating ice cream.
M/S of man standing in a conservatory. He switches on a large vertical light - it is a sun ray lamp. Camera tilts up to show two other large lights hanging from the ceiling. "Synthetic sunshine is so bracing..." A group of young women and a man play leap frog inside the conservatory - there is sand on the floor. They then have a tug-of-war. The man and one of the girls turn a long skipping rope and some of the others skip together. M/S of one of the girls doing a Charleston whilst others clap their hands to some music. M/S of some of the girls dancing together. "Outside, Old Man Sol is supreme." M/S of girl sitting by a window in her swimsuit. She reads a magazine and smokes a cigarette. Through the window we can see a seaside view - sea, pier and promenade. It is presumably a British holiday resort. Some of the other girls look out of the window.
"A Scientist might mention the spectrum of this bottled sunshine was just the same as outside, but outside you couldn't lie about like this, and eat ice cream in winter!" M/S of the girls lounging around. They hold parasols and eat ice cream from little glasses. C/U of two of the girls, one lies on her stomach wiggling her legs around, the other eats ice cream from a bowl. C/U of another one of the girls eating ice cream and playing with a toy dog. She pretends to feed the dog some ice cream then looks at the camera.

Note: see also "Water Ways" EF222 which shares some footage or uses material shot for this story. As Ron suggested - this indoor solarium is rather like "a 1920s version of Centre Parks!"
