Footage of dead bodies being carried away from wreckage of ship.
This is footage taken of the rescue effort of the SS Eastland Disaster which happened on 24th July 1915 on the Chicago River. The ship rolled on to its side whilst docked. 844 passengers and crew were killed.

Shipwreck fatalities pulled out of water by soldiers; sailors; volunteers `. MS Men leaning down; pulling a rope tied round corpse of slender young woman -w/ long white or light coloured dress. Some other men below help to lift the girl's body. One man unties rope. Shot showing bottom half of body and man's legs; as they lift body onto a cot -- she has on one shoe.
They cover her w/ blanket. Men carry body away on stretcher - can see hair hanging off. (This story is excruciating in its detail.)Title: Other Bodies are removed from water. Shot from behind the men as they lift man's body. GV some small boats in water; another man's corpse is lifted onto a private boat - rigor mortis has set it & legs are stuck in partially bent position - other workers in FG & at side - some wear fisherman's hats; some Navy (?) hats. Soldiers possibly Italian. Scary; tragedy; sad; drowning.
The identity of this footage was discovered in 2015.
