• Short Summary

Various happy animals are seen at a Kent animal sanctuary.

  • Description

    Nettlestead Green, Kent.

Footage of contented animals and children at an animal sanctuary - a place where dogs find new homes and new friends. A young boy walks along with a dog on a lead. He walks towards a pen of other dogs, opens the door and goes in. C/U of a sign which reads: "Shangri-La - Beauty Without Cruelty - Animal Sanctuary - Dogs Available to Really Good Homes."

Dog is let off the lead and three boys run around playing with the dogs "it's difficult to see who enjoys it most" says the narrator. C/U of a sign "These dogs are available for adoption". Various cute dogs are seen - I want one.

Air Chief Marshall Lord Dowding and his wife are supporters of the sanctuary and they are seen feeding a horse and calf.

Sheep and lambs are fed by youngsters at the sanctuary. Two little rabbits are being "baby-sat" by a dog. Buster the sparrow is fed by hand.

Note: lovely notes on file about all the animals. Such details as the following about Bumper the rabbit. "Bumper was educated at a co-ed school in Sussex. A great weakness for cabbage seedlings (some two hundred) led to her being expelled and sent to Shangri-La."

Cuts exist - see other record.
