Lovely footage of people having fun at the seaside in 1914.
Unedited material showing bathing costumes of 1914.
M/S of woman in bathing cap and black swimsuit lying in shallow waves on a beach. Children play in the sea around her. Camera tilts up and moves around to show other holidaymakers larking around in the sea for the benefit of the camera. Panning shot of bathers having fun including a middle aged man with long legged swimming costume holding a little girl up on his shoulder. Bathers frolic in the sea. A man starts a splashing match - another man joins in. Young girls in swimsuits pass the camera. Young boys smile and lark around for the camera. A man and two girls walk towards the camera holding hands. Camera pans across lots of kids and grown men fooling around for the camera in the sea.
Boys jump up and down and kick the water. We briefly see a man with a camera over his shoulder. C/U of the girl seen in the first shot lying down in the water. Someone runs past and splashes her. She smiles. Panning shot of the merrymakers on the beach. Someone does some cartwheels. Kids play around at the water's edge. A young child kicks water in an elderly man's face - he doesn't seem to mind. He points out the camera to one of the children then they run off into the distance, splashing through the water.
Not an item in either Eve's Film Review or Pathe Pictorial. I have seen this film somewhere else in the Pathe collection - probably in the ONs.
Nitrate print only.
