  • Description

    London.

World War One. military. New troops in training; crossing barbed wire. British troops practice a new method using a new 'invention' for traversing or handling barbed wire - some kind of heavy protective fabric. Shot of two soldiers throwing this material over some strung up barbed wire (a rod is attached to one side and they lift it by hooking this rod on their rifles); then stepping over it. A bunch of soldiers follow them. Large building in BG. Next; shot of several soldiers lying on stomachs with more barbed wire in FG; two soldiers come running up and again use rifles to lift the material over the wire; and again; all the soldiers run over it. They repeat this practice once more. Soldiers wearing gloves out of this same protective material wind wire round posts. Next; group of soldiers cross a complicated tangle of barbed wire using a greater quantity of the material. 2 men once again place the cloth over some wire; one sits down and falls; and the other sits on it as if it's a hammock. They act like they are making themselves comfortable.
