Quirky stuff - probably designed for children - women exercising and a beauty contest. c. 1950
Bantam Pack presents - Eve Figures it Out.
Women in sequined costumes and dancing shoes exercise holding small balls. Two women face each other with hands pressed together and do a standing "press-up". They pass the balls around their bodies then though their legs. They lie on the floor and pass the balls under their bottoms. Two of the women lie on their stomachs with hands under their chins and lift their legs and upper bodies off the floor in synchronisation. Close up of legs of two women exercising - seams of their fishnets clearly visible! They kneel on the ground and sit back on their (high) heels. Lying on their backs on the floor the women perform pelvic lifts, passing the balls underneath their bodies as they do so.
Shot of a large number of women in a beauty contest standing on a platform. Moving camera shot down the line to show faces and torsos of girls. Judges are shown - one of the judges is Jimmy Edwards. Girls in fabulous costumes walk along steps by a swimming pool and pose for the judges. Jimmy preens his moustache in approval. Five finalists stand in a row. Jimmy deliberates with much scratching of his head and chin. Shot of people in audience smiling and applauding. Number 16 is awarded the sash and trophy. The competition is the National Bathing Beauty Contest of 1950 which is sponsored by the Morecambe and Heysham Despatch. The winner poses by the pool side.
