CU the N.C.B. flag flying. LS the Huge crowd watches the ceremony with awe. CU. a man climbs a pole to unfurl the NCB flag.

    CU 82 year old Bob Gillon hauls on the rope as the flag is hoisted. CU Good studies of miners in their working clothes. CU a board outside the colliery which says "This colliery is now managed by the National Coal Board on behalf of the people". LS Miners filing into the colliery.

    Ex-servicemen are taught a new trade - Forestry.
